At Bonny Downs, we run a wide and ever-growing programme of regular group activities and special events that help people connect with their neighbours and celebrate their strengths together.
Please note that, due to the pandemic, some activities may not currently be running or may be taking place virtually. Please see our timetable, and check ahead with the activity organiser before planning to attend.
Children and families
Our children and families team holds regular weekly parent & toddler groups for parents, carers and their little ones aged under five.
Our social enterprise After School Club, rated Good by Ofsted, provides high quality care for pupils from seven local primary schools while our Saturday Space brings together children for activities and lunch at weekends.
Other regular activities we typically run for parents and carers include mindfulness and massage classes, and an inter-generational weekly all-age yoga and creche session.

Our award-winning Elders Project aims to improve the health and wellbeing of local older people by “adding years to life and life to years”.
We deliver a wide range of social groups, exercise classes, educational activities and support services for up to 400 elders each week! Our popular social programme usually includes regular coffee mornings, a lunch club and activities such as quiz nights, bingo, arts & crafts sessions and darts. For more about our fitness and exercise activities, please visit here.
We also arrange special events for older people throughout the year, such as daytrips and short breaks. Previous activities include boat rides, visits to garden centres, seaside day trips and short breaks to the South Coast. Our annual December event with full Christmas dinner, entertainment and dancing is another real highlight of the year!
In addition, we provide a befriending service for those older people who may be feeling lonely and isolated for a whole range of reasons. Please call 07449 105 436 for more info.

Each year, we run a leadership development programme to help Newham’s young people boost their employability, learn new skills, develop themselves as future leaders and become positive contributors to their community.
We typically build this programme around our children’s summer schemes, recruiting and training a team of young local people to assist us with the planning and delivery, while providing them with valuable work experience and specialist training at the same time.
Resources permitting, we may also organise other youth-focused activities during the year.
For more information on our youth development programme and any other youth-focused activities we have planned, please email us at email@example.com.
