BDCA could not function without our team of committed, talented, compassionate volunteers. And we are always looking for new people to help us run our wide range of community services.
When we have specific volunteer roles that we need to fill, they will be listed below.
- Database entry assistantDo you want to help keep our data accurate and up to date for our visitors? We have 100’s of visitors per week come to our hub and it’s important forour funders that we capture all of this information. We use the Upshotdatabase system to record all this information, and we are looking forvolunteers to help ensure that all our data is up to date and ship shape! How many hours per week? From 2 hours- 6 hours depending on howmuch time you can spare.When? Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays between 11am-1pm.Where? The WELLcome Hub, 35 Vicarage Lane, East Ham, E66DQ
- Energy efficiency championDo you want to help your community stay safe and energy-smart? We are proud to be funded by Cadent Gas, who supply us withinformation and equipment to keep our community energy safe andenergy smart. We need someone who can support our community ingiving information and signing onto the Priority Service Register, distributeCarbon Monoxide alarms and information and point them in the directionof energy services available. How many hours per week? – Depending on your availability, from 3hours to 9 hours per weekWhen? Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, 10am-1pm.Where? The WELLcome Hub, 35 Vicarage Lane, East Ham, E66DQWhat you’ll need to provide:
- Clothes Bank FacilitatorDo you want to make a difference by helping give clothes a second life? At our Foodbank and Family Hub we have rails of beautiful, donated clothing on display for people to browse. We give away these clothes to those that need them the most, but we also offer them at a subsidised rate to those that can afford it so that any money made can go straight back into our charity. We need people who can sort through donations, rotate the stock on the rails and keep a record of the clothes given away How many hours per week?
- Foodhub CookDo you love to cook and want to share your passion with others? Three days a week at our hub, we offer free community hot meals. Weneed people to help plan and prepare nutritious hot meals for up to 70people per day in our onsite kitchen and then serve it with a smile! How many hours per week? – Depending on your availability, 4-12hours per week.When? Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, 9am-1pm.Where? The WELLcome Hub, 35 Vicarage Lane, East Ham, E66DQ You will need to provide: A warm welcoming attitude, good understandingof food hygiene (ideally a food and hygiene certificate Level
- Food Club Table HostWant to help fight food waste and support local families? Each week at our hub, we host a community Food Club, offering £25-£30worth of groceries at a member’s rate of £5. This initiative and partnershipwith Felix and Newham Food Alliance helps to combat food waste andkeep groceries at a low cost. How many hours per week? – 4 hours per week, 9am-1pm.When? Tuesdays.Where? The WELLcome Hub, 35 Vicarage Lane, East Ham, E6 6DQ We need people to host our stalls – this involves setting up the produce on your stall and receiving tokens from our shoppers in exchange for items.
