We know that regular exercise is important for our physical, mental and emotional health, yet Newham remains one of the country’s least physically active boroughs. So BDCA is committed to providing a wide range of sports and fitness activities to help people of all ages get moving!
Our aim is to make it easy to get fit, have fun and meet new friends through a range of FREE or low cost sports and fitness activities – no expensive gym memberships required!
Please note that, due to the pandemic, some activities may not currently be running or may be taking place virtually. Please see our timetable, and check ahead with the activity organiser before planning to attend.
All ages welcome
Our activities for adults of all ages typically range from Yoga and Zumba, to women’s fitness classes, table tennis and gym and swim sessions.
We have a dedicated programme of popular activities for older people too, such as Tai Chi, circuit training, chair-based exercise, line dancing and music & movement sessions.
We also host several weekly football sessions, from Walking Football for the over 40s to Soccer School for pre-teens.
Our Active for Life programme supports those struggling with housing or money problems with free football, gym and swimming sessions. We run this programme together with our partners at New Way Project and Caritas Anchor House and our qualified coaches can offer 1-2-1 support to help you achieve your goals.
Hire our sports and fitness facilities
Bonny Downs is proud to serve as the home ground for Newham Cricket Club and many other local cricket and football clubs. We offer our high-quality facilities for hire at competitive rates for everything from local sports clubs to school sports corporate fun days!
