At Bonny Downs, we run a wide and ever-growing programme of regular group activities and special events that help people connect with their neighbours and celebrate their strengths together.
Our award-winning Over 65s Active and Connected project aims to improve the health and wellbeing of local older people by “adding years to life and life to years”.
We deliver a wide range of social groups, exercise classes, educational activities and support services. Our popular social programme usually includes regular coffee mornings, a lunch club and activities such as quiz nights, bingo, arts & crafts sessions and darts. For more about our fitness and exercise activities, please visit here.
We also arrange special events for older people throughout the year, such as daytrips and short breaks. Previous activities include boat rides, visits to garden centres, seaside day trips and short breaks to the South Coast. Our annual December event with full Christmas dinner, entertainment and dancing is another real highlight of the year!
Advocacy for ages 65+
We understand that older people sometimes need an extra helping hand. So, every day, our Advocacy Service helps people with a wide range of issues, from housing and health, to debt and disability, benefits and befriending, and more.
This service is for Newham residents aged 65+ who need someone to support them to get their voice heard and their wishes understood (priority given to E6 residents).
We offer personal, confidential appointments by phone and face-to-face.
To find out more about our activities for the over 65s, check our current timetable to see what activities are currently running, call our office on 0208 586 7070 or email us at over65s@bonnydowns.org.
