Meet our Nursery team!

  • 30 September 202219 October 2022

We recently caught up with a few of our fantastic team to hear about life working at Bonny Downs Nursery. Here’s what they had to say!

Nargis Akhtar

I’m Nargis and I was born and have been brought up in Newham all my life.

Do you like working at the Nursery?

I love working at Bonny Downs Nursery, it’s a very welcoming nursery and the children are very well looked after!

What do you enjoy most about your job?

My favourite experience so far is seeing the ‘lockdown’ children grow, from coming in crying at the beginning to now leaving their parents without saying goodbye! This is the best moment for us, to see them come in happy (and also for their parents too). I also love seeing the children having so much fun that when their parents come to pick them up they don’t want to go home!

Why should local families consider Bonny Downs Nursery for their childcare?

I would definitely recommend the Nursery, because the Bonny Downs community is amazing and everyone here loves to help our local families!

Bernadette Young

I’m Bernadette (Bernie for short) and I’m a mum of six with 31 years of childcare experience! I came to Newham 34 years ago, after moving from the Midlands to train as a nurse and then as a midwife.

Do you like working at the Nursery?

I really enjoy working at Bonny Downs Nursery and feel privileged to have been here from when it opened. Every child is treated as a special young person, respected for who they are, and given great opportunities to play, learn and grow.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

All the children are all such characters – fantastic individuals! We also have a great diverse team of staff which just adds so much to each day. We are like one big Nursery family.

Why should local families consider Bonny Downs Nursery for their childcare?

If you would like your child to be cared for by dedicated staff and have excellent play, fun and learning opportunities this is the place for your child. My neighbour brought her child here on my recommendation, and has already extended their hours!
