Skilled volunteers to the rescue of our Community Asset
Coppermaker Square’s fantastic team came to the rescue of The Well Community Centre, our much‑loved community asset in East Ham. With 2026 declared the International Volunteer Year, it feels especially fitting to celebrate volunteerism.
We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to the dream team of skilled maintenance and building‑management volunteers who spent two full days with us last week— and what a transformation they delivered. A team of six worked across both days, rolling up their sleeves to redecorate our large training room, the back‑office corridor, our dedicated counselling room, and even the storage room in our main hall .This was far more than we initially asked for, but the team’s efficiency, enthusiasm, and professionalism made them unstoppable— quite literally .
After lunch, the volunteers spotted that our toilet facilities needed attention. They returned the next day fully prepared and fixed leaks, a loose tap, and other issues—all free of charge.
We are deeply grateful to Dheraen Quick for arranging this incredible team and helping us bring real, practical value back into our community .
Refreshed and updated premises help us offer better‑quality spaces for hire and to run our projects, and every penny of profit goes straight back into running and maintaining community assets like our busy Well Community Centre in East Ham.
Coppermaker Square generously funded the entire volunteer experience, covering per‑head costs for the team. Local specialist bakery Payava also contributed by donating branded biscuits for the thank‑you bags we gifted to volunteers — a lovely way to introduce them further to our charity’s work.
Coppermaker Square has supported us for several years through donations to our food bank, toy appeal, and youth club. Sending skilled volunteers was yet another ace up their sleeve — and what a cheerful, kind‑hearted group they were.
If you’d like to explore corporate or individual volunteering opportunities with us, or simply want to get involved, we’d love to hear from you.
