At Bonny Downs, we run a wide programme of regular activities,services and special events that help improve the health and wellbeing of local older people.

Chatty Tuesday
Our popular social programme usually includes regular coffee mornings and activities such as quiz, bingo, arts & crafts sessions.
Over-65s Exercise
We offer exercise tailored for the needs of our older community, such as Bowls, Chair-based Exercise and gentle Music & Movement.
Dementia-friendly Choir
Research shows that music and singing can help people living with dementia, so we have a joyful fortnightly choir run by an experienced nurse. It is free for anyone living with dementia and their carers to attend.
Benefits Advice for Pensioners
Our advocates can help you explore what benefits you are entitled to, help make claims and signpost to services, to support you in improving your financial circumstance. Email Paris for an appointment, or find him at our Coffee Morning.
Advocacy for over-65s
We understand that older people sometimes need an extra helping hand. So, our Advocacy Service helps people with a wide range of issues, from housing and health, to debt and disability, benefits and befriending, and more.
This service is for Newham residents aged 65+ who need someone to support them to get their voice heard and their wishes understood (priority given to E6 residents). We offer personal, confidential appointments by phone and face-to-face.
Special Events and Trips
We also arrange special events for older people throughout the year, such as daytrips and short breaks. Previous activities include boat rides, visits to garden centres, seaside day trips and short breaks to the South Coast. Our annual December event with full Christmas dinner, entertainment and dancing is another real highlight of the year!
