We’re bringing Newham together to sing for hope!
Would you like to help write and record a song and video? Then we invite you to be part of our exciting new intergenerational song project and sing for hope!
No previous experience is necessary. Whether you’re 8 or 88 years old, we invite you to join us, with the opportunity to learn new film and music production skills while having some creative fun!
- If you’ve never written or sung a song before this is your chance!
- If you’re a brilliant singer or musician then we need you!
- If you’ve always wanted to be in a music video, then this is for you too!
The theme of our song will be HOPE! It’s going to be about our experiences of lockdown, but we’re also looking to the future and all the things we want to do when we’re out and about again.
Want to learn more?
We need people to write lyrics, make beats, write melodies, sing, shoot some video and perform the song on video. You can be involved with as many or as few of these things as you want. We’re going to work as a big team, so we all contribute to the final piece. The main sessions will take place during the week of 15 February and we’ll try and fit them around you.
We held a great kick-off call on Zoom recently, but don’t worry if you couldn’t make it – there’s still time to get involved. On Wednesday 10 February, we’ll have a planning call on Zoom. Think about what areas you’d like to contribute to, join the call and bring your family and friends, the more the merrier!
Please complete our very short form to register your interest here.

More about the project
We are running the project in partnership with Community Albums, a charity that designs and delivers projects using music and media to help to develop people and give communities a voice.
BDCA has successfully worked with Community Albums before, and you can you can view the music video we made with local young people last summer here!
Here’s what some of the participants from this last project had to say:
“At first I was feeling really shy about doing it but when I was doing it, I felt more confident. When I watched the video, I was really proud. I would do it again!”
“We haven’t done anything like this before… I found it really fun and energetic!”
