ExCeL London, the home of world-leading events and exhibitions in Newham, has recently renewed its support for Bonny Downs’ food bank in 2022 through a generous £5,000 donation!

ExCeL is one of a number of local companies who have joined our Friends of the Foodbank network. Throughout the pandemic, ExCeL has supported our charity’s community support work through donations as well as practical partnerships, such as volunteering with us to provide a special Christmas lunch for our food bank guests.

Angie Allgood, Director of Partnerships at Bonny Downs Community Association, said:

“One of the things the pandemic has highlighted is the invasive impact of poverty on so many areas of family life. ExCeL London’s generous funding helps us to continue and expand our support for our Newham neighbours in need through our food bank, offering people emergency food parcels as well as the opportunity to talk with our trained debt advisors and access additional wrap-around support.

“The team at ExCeL really have gone over and above to support our neighbours in need over the last few year. We are so thankful for their continued support as we help families in Newham to build a brighter future!”

“We’re very proud of the work and support we’re able to give back to Newham and its local community. Bonny Downs Community Association is one of five main charity partners we help throughout the year, including undertaking initiatives such as serving a special Christmas lunch for everyone as we did last year.

“The impact of the pandemic continues to be felt by many people, so it’s important we look after one another and our communities, and we look forward to continuing this in 2022.”

Demand for food parcels and debt advice at our food bank remains significantly higher than before the pandemic started. Thank you to all of our corporate and individual Friends of the Foodbank for helping us to meet this continued high demand – we couldn’t do this without you!
