Meet Nora

At BDCA, we value our volunteers. They make it possible for us to serve our neighbours in need through giving their time, skills and knowledge selflessly. We are celebrating National Volunteers Week (1-7 June) with a tea party to thank them and by sharing one story a day of of some of our amazing volunteers.

Today we meet Nora who volunteers for our Children & Families Project.

Meet Brian

Closure of BDCA After School Club

  • 25 April 202325 April 2023

It is with a heavy heart that BDCA announces the closure of our After School and Holiday Club. The last day of service will be Friday 21st July.

This does not affect our Go Wild! Summer Scheme, which is a separate project that will continue to provide activities for children 8- 14 years old between 10 am – 3 pm for the first three weeks of the Summer holidays. Application for Go Wild! will be opening soon.

We’re Committed to Real Living Wage

  • 17 April 2023

BDCA is delighted that we have been accredited as a Living Wage Employer. Our Living Wage commitment will see everyone working at Bonny Downs receive a minimum hourly wage of £11.95, significantly higher than the government minimum for over-23s, which currently stands at £10.42 per hour.

London Marathon Runner fundraising for BDCA

Meet Eric & Naomi – from our Befriending Scheme

Naomi & Eric’s story: ‘I can talk with him in a way that I cannot with family members.”

Our Volunteer Befriending Scheme is going from strength to strength providing weekly contact, comfort, and support for isolated elders – and a valuable volunteer role that supports local people’s wellbeing and sense of connection. This is thanks to the amazing volunteers donating their time and to The Mercers Company for funding the project.

Free Hot Soup and Activities

Celebration is one of our core values at Bonny Downs: celebrating joy even in the midst of life’s hardships. With the cold winter and rising costs of living, we need joy more than ever. And over the Christmas period, our staff and volunteers provided joy through a variety of events to over 300 residents!
