BDCA are so excited to create a new space for our community – the WELLcome Hub at no 35 Vicarage Lane, East Ham. We are looking for some help with turning the empty building into a beautiful, warm, and welcoming space for everyone.

Office Space to Rent from 1 July in East Ham
BDCA is taking on ‘meanwhile use’ of 35 Vicarage Lane, East Ham E6 6DQ from 1 July 2024 for two years.
We will be using it for our Food Bank and other services. But there’s lots of space and we would like to rent out two offices on the first floor. It would be below commercial rate and particularly suitable for voluntary sector partners.

BDCA is growing! And to make space for our growth, we will be moving some of our services to our neighbouring premises at 35 Vicarage Lane, E6 6DG
This means there will be pauses in some of our activities over the coming weeks to allow our staff capacity to move and create a lovely new base for our community.

On 26th April, we celebrated our 25th anniversary with the launch of an exhibition showcasing the history of the charity and the local area we serve.
Rokhsana Fiaz, Mayor of Newham and Sir Stephen Timms MP gave speeches at the event alongside David Mann, BDCA Chair and Sarah Laing, BDCA CEO.

Poet Yrsa Daley-Ward’s latest collection of poems, Unspoken Words, was inspired by her visit to Bonny Downs Food Club. Her poetry amplifies the voice of those in our community facing food insecurity. Her video, produced by RANKIN, can be watched here:

On 21st March, Bonny Downs Community Association launched the premiere of a short film showcasing local women’s hardship in living with No Recourse to Public Funds (NRPF).
The event was co-hosted by Sir Stephen Timms MP, Dr Sally Mann, researcher at the University of Greenwich and Nora Nyugab Linwe, one of the film participants.
